Hi Adobe Community,

I’m having trouble with .MTS files in Adobe Premiere Pro. The video imports correctly, but the audio is just loud static noise or high-pitched sounds.

Here are the details:

  • File type: .MTS (AVCHD from Sony Handycam)
  • Import method: I tried File > Import and drag & drop
  • Audio format: AC-3 (I think)
  • Premiere Pro version: 25.3
  • OS : Windows 11
  • Media plays fine in VLC, but Premiere doesn’t import the audio properly.

I’ve tried:

Clearing media cache

Changing audio channels (Mono/Adaptive)

Using Media Browser (still same issue)

Converting files works, but I want to use original format if possible

Can anyone help fix this without converting?

Thanks in advance!

Downgrade to Premiere Pro 25.2 will fix it.

Many people has the same problem and Adobe is aware of it but has not released any fix yet, but downgrading from 25.3 to 25.2 seems to work. I would delete all media cahce files and the media cahce database when downgrading.
