Question

Audio going out of sync after trimming and joining a clip

Hi guys

I am a newbie, so apologies in advance. I have a video where I want to speed some parts up. I have used the razor tool and selected the first part I want to speed up.  I have tried the 3 conventional ways of changing the frame rate (pressing R, used key frames etc). The segment of video speeds up successfully but when I join the next peice back to the altered clip the audio goes out of sync in the next part. After hours of trying, I switched back to Sony Vegas but the same thing happened there, when before it worked fine. I am using the same video recorder. Any ideas???

Cheers

Ben

I'm not sure if you mean Lip Sync or that the audio gets thrown out when you move it. First, it is practically impossible that just modifying the speed of the video, you expect the audio to be equally synchronized. Secondly, if you don't want the audio to stay somewhere other than its own video, you must activate the "Linked Selection" button on the timeline or select the audio and video, right-click and select "Link".

It would be best if you take a video screen capture and show us to be clearer about what is happening on your timeline.

What version of Premiere are you using? If you are using an older version of Premiere and you're shooting in a variable frame rate format things may shift out of sync. if this is the case you might want to consider taking your footage into an app called hand brake to convert to a non-variable frame rate.
