audio in Adobe Premiere Pro

When I am editing a video hit the stop key and use the step forward frame key to go forward or backwards a few seconds I use to be able to hear the audio so I could tell when I am about to speak. For some reason that function is not working. Could you advise if I hit something and that is why it is not working?
