Audio... Just plain wrong??

My waveform doesn't correspond to the audio playing in my headphones... ...unless I zoom in to the clip in the source. Earlier, I moved the clip from the source monitor to my timeline and it played properly once or twice and then it did what it does in the beginning of the video. In the video I even test it a few times, where the waveform in source looks like it hits a dead 0, there is clear sound. Are my audio settings messed up??
