Audio Level -24db

I'm sure this is a simple fix, but for the life of me cannot find the answer.

I'm using a Rodecaster Pro and a shure sm7b mic. Recently I've had to reboot the PC, including the Adobe software. To my point, when recording direct to the timeline in Premiere, I can't get the audio levels above -24db. This never happened before my system reboot, so I'm guessing it's something in preferences with Premiere.

It's driving me mad, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

FIXED

After much looking, I finally worked out what the problem was.

Preferences - Audio Hardware - Settings - Recording Tab and select Mic

Properties - Advanced - Levels it was set to 50 I increased this to 90, and now when recording in the timeline the wave shows as it should at the correct input through my Rodecaster Pro.

This may help others with the same initial problem.

Thank you

Try resetting the preferences:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-premiere-pro/td-p/8236158?page=1

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
from here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/workspaces.html

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the reply; unfortunately, this is a new launch of Premiere Pro, so resetting everything as you suggested has done nothing. I can't set the input to no, as it then doesn't pick up the mic for use. I've attached an image showing the scale of -24db at it's maximum when recording to the timeline.

Not sure where to go with this must be a bug or something.

Thanks

John
