Audio missing in After Effects composition when viewed in Premiere Pro via dynamic Link

I create short videos made up of animations composited in After Effects and put together with other pieces like credits, music, etc in Premiere Pro. I'm using dynamic link to be able to go back and make edits to the animations throughout the process, which I do frequently (it's a pain to have to re-import a rendered animation composition each time I make an edit, hence trying to use dynamic link).

I want to place the voiceover and sound effects in the After Effects composition so that I can work out the animation timings easily, then bring over the composition including sound to Premiere with dynamic link so that I can do any final audio editing to the composition audio as well as adding additional audio like music in Premiere.

However, when I view the linked composition within Premeier, none of the audio from the After Effects video is present: I only see the visual parts of the composition. If I go back to "edit original" and view the composition within After Effects, the sound effects and voiceover audio clips play fine. But the audio is not in the linked comp within Premiere.

Any suggestions? The programs are the same version, media caches are cleared. It is possible to do all the sound after the animations, but I have to re-do the timings and it takes extra work so is not an ideal work flow.

And you might want to ask over in the AfterEffects forum, as the folks there are pretty experienced in Ae/Pr issues.
