Audio missing on some clips when opening 2018 project from a Mac on 2022 PC version

I started working on an edit in 2018 on a Mac version, and then shelved the project until now. A few days ago, I opened the project on a PC on a 2022 version, linked any missing media, and didn't change any of the project settings.

When working on the project, I discovered some of the clips on the timeline were missing audio. I checked the respective source footage and is also missing audio. This is where the problem comes in. The issue is intermittent.

After rendering, the audio comes back, and a different clip's audio disappears. When I check the footage in "file explorer" the audio is there. I re-import it into premiere-pro, and it disappears.

I even tried rendering the individual clips in "media encoder" and re-imported them into premier-pro and the same thing keeps happening.

Ultimately, I thought to start the project all over again from scratch. Unfortunately, the problem still persists.

Has anyone experienced this, and how did you work around it?

Can anypne please help?
