Audio Not Dropping from Source Panel

Audio will not drop from source panel if I drag and drop video. This used to work. I find if i relaunch Premiere pro, it may or may not work. It seems like it works 25% of the time. I have to use the "Insert" button to make it work. This is on the latest CC 2017

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Thanks for posting the video, javierarmendariz. I think I know what's going on now.

Your video shows that you appear to be using media from a screen capture program. Media from these programs is not reliable in Premiere Pro for various reasons, but mainly because of variable frame rates and muxed audio. In fact, I've found, muxed audio in a clip can defeat automatic source patching and can result in the unexpected results you are experiencing.

You may have better results with this media after transcoding. Unfortunately, Media Encoder does not support this media either, so, a third party application (like Handbrake) can assist with this task. See if you have a better experience after working with media that Premiere Pro fully supports, then report back here with the results.

Thanks,
Kevin

How do you know that that video was screen captured? I had to download the videos from vimeo from someone's account. If you are referring to the capture software on the video, that was used to make the video.

Anyhow, I did some experiments and it was indeed the files. Other high quality files worked when i dropped the video from the source panel on the same sequence.

This was the first time using files downloaded from vimeo. Live and learn. I believe this has been solved!

Thanks!

Hi javieramendariz,

Sorry to hear about your issue. I am pretty sure I have an idea what's going on here, but as eikonoklastes suggests, a screen shot would be helpful.

As for my own advice, I would first make sure you've got your audio source patched in the Timeline. Here's a FAQ about that: FAQ: Why does audio or video not go to the track where I drop it?

Please return to the thread and let us know if you were successful or if you need more assistance.

Thanks,
Kevin

So, I think i'm doing everything right. Please see video and you will see that the audio will not drop in even when V1 and A1 is active. Like i mentioned on my original post, this function only works about 25% of the time. Please review video and let me know if I'm doing something wrong?

Can you post a screenshot of what you're trying to do, specifically where you are dragging from (as in the specific location in the Source Monitor), and a screenshot of your entire timeline?
