Question

Audio not playing back from one of two clips?

Hi,

I am using PP CC 2018 and experiencing some audio problems.

I have two video clips in a sequence, only one of the two video clips plays audio back.

One of the clips is a .mov file the other is a .mp4 file.

The audio on the clip plays normally using windows media player. When I import the same clip into a project the same clip does not play audio. Either in the sequence or source windows..

I have also closed down PP and restarted it, the audio played back normally, after clicking on a different program on my desktop and then going back to PP the audio failed to play back again.

I am not sure what is going on. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestions but I think I have resolved the problem.

It seems to have been a version issue as far as I can tell. I was using PP 12.1.1 so all I did after trying many different fixes others have suggested along with yourselves was to install version 13.0.1.

All the issues that I have been experiencing so far seem to have stopped happening now. So I am going to carry on with my work-flow and see if any of the problems reappear.

Again, thanks for your time and suggestions,

Jim,

Thanks for your response but none of those steps make a difference. The odd thing is is that when I open the project the audio works, then when I click outside of PP and then return to PP the audio playback stops. The audio waveform is still present but it simply does not play back.

A screen-grab of your Audio Hardware settings dialog might be useful.

Also, if you are in Windows, check to see if your Audio settings allow an app to take total control of the audio hardware. If so, that would be the cause ... you click the other app, it takes control ... and thereafter Premiere cannot access the audio hardware.

My first thought is to check Steps 2B and 4D below.  Report back.
