Audio suddenly distorts and goes out of sync

Another weird problem here.

I can be editing for say half an hour and then all of a sudden the audio on my timeline starts to break up and loose sync entirely after previously being fine. This is accompanied by the fans in my MacBook Pro 2017 spinning up to pretty much full speed.

I've checked to see what if any apps are running when this happens, memory and CPU usage too, but Premier is the only open app.


The only way to fix this is to reboot. Quitting and opening Premier Pro doesn't work. There have been a couple of times when I've walked away and about 30 minutes later the issue has gone.

Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

    No answers yet but just in case anyone comes across this issue... I am now working on the same project with an entirely different computer, same OS and project file. I’m still getting the audio glitch followed by loss of sync.

    Sometimes adjust resolution olayback stops it. Sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes an software restart fixes it, sometimes it doesn’t. I think most of the time a syshstem restart will fix it.
