Audio Track Mixer: Master VU meter disappears
I thought I saw this issue years ago, but it never got resolved so...
...I like to mix and put effects on an Audio Track instead of each Audio Clip. Much easier to mix that way. So this issue has been a thorn in my side for as long as I've been using Premiere. So hear (pun intended) goes:
- I'll have my tracks, ususally a stereo music, mono dialog, etc. routed to either a submix or directly to the Master bus.
- I put some effects on each track as well as across the master bus (compressor, eq, maybe a VST or 2).
- I'll be editing along, changing effect parameters, clip automation, etc. and then the Master VU meter just stops working. Dead to the world.
I need the vu meter to check my output and see if I'm clipping, if I need to adjust the limiters, etc.
The ONLY way I've found to get the meter to start working again is to:
- Close the Panel
- Re-open it via Window|Audio Track Mixer.
Now some may say, "No big deal. Just do it." But, I say, "Arrgh! Not again. Why don't they fix this?"
So here I am (no pun intended here), posting on these forums trying to see if there is consensus enough so that Adobe fixes this irritation.
I
'm on Windows 10 Pro, fast computer, ssds, lotsa RAM, GeForce RTX 2080, multiple monitors.
I've tried moving the panel from my other monitors to the main Premiere window, to no avail
(much like you have to do to use the eydropper when using Ultrakey).
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Wally
