Question

Audio/video sync issues.

I am having trouble syncing my audio to my video. I recorded my audio on a Blue usb mic plugged into my laptop (on Audition), and then I had my iPhone on a tripod recording the video. I put the audio and video on the track in Premiere Pro and then synchronized. I clapped to create a spike at the start of my recording. At first, it seems like it is perfectly lined up, but once you get to about the halfway mark, the audio seems to be a little ahead of the video recording. I tried to change the duration of my audio recording and then sync the audio to the video, but that makes it even worse. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, this is only the second video I have tried to create on Premiere Pro.

So I followed that article that you linked and for some reason, my layout is completely different. I can't seem to find the MPEG source settings that is talked about in the article. Here is what it looks like after I click on the effect controls:

iphone videos have a variable frame rate which can cause problems.  Use Handbrake to convert to a constant frame rate

Also, it's possible that your usb mic is causing some issues.  You may have to adjust either your speed of your video or the "tempo" of the audio without changing the pitch.  You can rough this out in premiere, but if you're adjusting the "tempo" of the audio, Audition will do a better job than Premiere.  You might run a test putting a clap at the beginning and the end of your recording.  If you need help with this workflow, post back, but hopefully handbrake will solve the problem.
