I found an issue with the latest update of Premiere pro.

The WAV Files doesn’t seems to play correctly, everytime this happen, I have to restart the application.

I’m uploading a recording.

I’m in a new Macbook pro m4, with a fresh installation of Adobe Cloud, so it’s not a Hardware issue.

    @Serbeks

This file appears to be corrupted, or it may be using a non-standard WAV format. It reports one conformance error.

However, I was able to open the file in Adobe Audition and save a new version, and the playback issue was resolved after doing that.

I have attached the corrected file here for you to test.

Make sure the audio hardware in the Preferences is set to No Input.

Does the file play correctly outside of Premiere?

If it does, this can sometimes be caused by corrupt metadata in the file, or corrupt media cache files.

    You can try the following:

    1. Delete the Media Cache

    • Close your project.

    • Go to Premiere Pro > Settings > Media Cache.

    • Click Delete.

    • Select Delete all Media Cache Files, then click OK.

Premiere will restart. When you reopen your project, the cache files will rebuild. Check if the WAV plays correctly after that.

    If the issue continues:

    2. Create a new version of the file in Audition

    • Open Adobe Audition.

    • Go to File > Open and open the WAV file.

    • Press the spacebar to play it. Does it sound correct?

    If it does:

    • Go to File > Save As.

    • Untick Include markers and other metadata.

    • Save the file.

    • Import this new version into Premiere and test it.

This can remove problematic metadata that may be affecting playback.

    Hey,

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately this doesn’t work.

As I said, the machine is new—I don’t even have a cache fill yet. The WAV file plays correctly outside Premiere, and it happens with every WAV file. The other versions of Premiere before the update to .26 played the WAVs correctly, so it seems to be a problem with the .26 version.

    Hi Serbeks,

Sorry to hear about this. Would you mind sharing a download link to a sample audio with which you are experiencing this issue? It will help us properly diagnose the issue on our end.

    Thanks,
    Sumeet
