Audio waveforms not generated automatically on import

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Premiere Pro 26 on Windows 11 where audio waveforms are no longer generated automatically when importing clips (H.264).

What I've already tried:

  • "Generate waveforms automatically during import" is enabled in Audio preferences
  • Cleared Media Cache and Peak Files folder
  • Reset preferences
  • Reinstalled Premiere (v25 and v26)
  • Tested new empty projects and different clips
  • Manually triggering Clip - Generate Audio Waveform has no effect

This has been happening for about 2 months. Any ideas?

I believe it’s the known issue affecting Premiere Pro 25.x to 26. Did you try to right-click the audio clip and click render and replace to render audio? You may need to unliking audio/video first. Also see this
