Audition audio distorted when imported into Premiere

I am recording one single track for voiceover in Audition. It sounds fine in Audition and WMP. When I import it into Premiere, the audio becomes distorted and fuzzy. This has not happened to me before. 

I have not changed the default export settings. It is the same whether I export as .WAV or .MP3, remove all effects, or adjust the volume of the original clip.

I set the default input to "None" in Premiere as someone suggested that on another post, but it didn't make a difference.
