Auto captions character length setting does not work right

Yes, a) the logic is more complicated than it seems, in part because the elements interact and font size does matter and b) sometimes it is clearly just making bad decisions!

When trying to get very short captions, I think it works better to drop the max characters all the way to 7. It will not break a word with more than7 characters. I ran this in a clip that is 2 and a half minutes. It produces 291 captions. I had only 2 instances where the max characters (7) was exceeded and there were 3 words. There were several 2-word segments that did not exceed 7. And a few 2-word that did exceed 7, but they were almost all VERY short duration. In fact, MANY segments were less than one second.

You can, manually, adjust the caption segments after creation. Merge/split and edit as needed.

I've noticed something similar or at least, potentially related, in that I usually select "single line" for captions, but will occasionally get double-lined captions. I'm wondering if it's a function of the software not being able to account for the different widths of different fonts.  But I haven't noticed whether the character count itself has been off.
