Question

Auto Removal/Bleeping of Swear Words

Hi All,

Have seen several others pose this idea and I do think its a good one!

Was wondering if anyone had any fast workarounds removing swear words in transcribed or untranscribed footage? Working with some content where the 'subjects' are swearing every two seconds. Its an extremely long and tiresome procedure having to basically watch the whole episode and removing swear words.

Of course could transcribe and then search for foul words but was wondering if there was any AI help with this matter?

Here's a quick way to bleep out swear words in Premiere Pro:

  1. Transcribe your video.
  2. Add it to Audio Track 1.
  3. In the Text panel, filter for swear words, click Delete, tick Lift, and then click Delete All.
  4. Add your bleeping sound to Audio Track 2 and make sure it spans the length of your sequence (File > New > Bars and Tone works well since it has no fixed duration).
  5. Select all the clips on Audio Track 1, then press Alt/Option + Down Arrow. This will overwrite the bleep with anything that's not a swear word.
  6. If you want to keep the bleeps on a separate track, use Alt/Option + Up Arrow to move them back.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the reply!

What do you mean by add it to Audio Track 1? The transcription is to make captions? The only thing I can do is create a CC track which sits at the top?

Sorry for the confusion. By "Add it to Audio Track 1," I mean add the transcribed video to Track 1 (if you haven’t already).

It’s not essential which track you add your video to, so long as the bleeped audio is placed on the track below it.
