AVCHD audio Premier Pro 2023

Hi. I am having some trouble importing Sony AVCHD video files into Adobe Premier Pro 2023. The video is fine but the audio is distorted and unusable. When I play the same file in QuickTime player it is perfect. macOS Ventura 13.2 is up to date and so is Adobe Premiere Pro 23.2.0 (Build 69). It is not an activation issue as I can import other mov files.
