Best Practices for Editing With Captions Created in a Master “Dailies” Timeline?

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to get some guidance on a captioning workflow question in Premiere Pro. I want to make sure I’m doing things in a clean, scalable, “best practice” way, especially now that I’m working with a larger volume of footage and dual-language subtitles.

My Setup & Workflow
I have a large “Dailies” timeline that contains every clip from a shoot in strict chronological order. This is where I do all my caption creation/adjustments.

My workflow looks like this:
1. Double-click a clip → open in Source Monitor
2. Use Window → Text → Transcribe
3. Generate captions from that transcription (Premiere creates a new captions track in the active timeline, which already housed the source clips that I transcribed.)
4. Now the captions exist in the Dailies sequence.

Everything works great up to this point.

The Problem / What I’m Trying to Solve
When working without transcriptions/captions, I’ve normally created new edits (Reels, other short videos, longer sequences, etc.) by either:
* Copy/pasting pieces from the Dailies sequence into a new sequence, OR
* Creating subsequences from selected clips.

This has worked well enough for me thus far. But as I am now seeking to edit clips that have been captioned in the dailies sequence, I’m wondering about best practices:
As far as it seems to me, captions in Premiere are sequence-based, so they do not “travel with” the clips unless I manually copy the caption track with them.

What I want is a workflow where:
* I can create edits in new sequences while retaining the caption timing and content from the master Dailies sequence.
* So ideally, if I update or correct captions later in the Dailies sequence, those fixes would also auto-update in the new edit sequence.
* I want to avoid duplicating captions many times across different sequences, avoiding a situation where I have multiple un-linked new instances of the original captions.

Right now it feels like once captions are created inside one specific sequence, every new sequence requires copy-pasting them manually, and any future adjustments have to be duplicated across multiple timelines, which is going to be a huge headache for me, especially considering I may find myself in a situation where I am editing in one edit sequence, and spot something in a caption I may want to tweak, and then in order to keep everything in sync, I’d have to stop what im doing to go over to the dailies timeline and any other edit sequences to copy/paste things over. Im sure you can see this is kind of absurd, so hopefully someone can school me on a better way.

1. What is the best practice for working with captions that originate in a large “master” dailies sequence?
Is there a recommended workflow for building captions in a master timeline and having them move downstream cleanly?

2. Is there a non-destructive way to have captions “follow” clips into new sequences?
For example:
* If I make a subsequence from a part of the Dailies timeline that has captions, can I make it so those captions automatically stay linked to the dailies timeline?

3. Is there any workflow in Premiere that allows caption edits made in one sequence to update in another?
Something similar to a “dynamic link” or “source captions” model, I guess?
Or is it expected that captions are unique per sequence, and any updates must be manually duplicated?

In Summation:
I’m basically just trying to establish the cleanest long-term workflow that allows for the ability to revise spelling/timing etc. of captions once in a central place, and have those adjustments auto-populate to all sequences where that original source clips lives or may live in the future.

PS: Here's a bonus question:

For creating dual-language captions (Spanish + English), what workflow do professionals typically use?

What I currently am doing:

* Create the original language transcription + captions in Premiere.
* Export the captions, plug that into ChatGPT, have it return the translations, manually create a new captions file from that, then import that into premiere as a new caption track in the other language.

While I am making this work, it’s starting to feel quite cumbersome as my volume is picking up, and I am hoping to develop a more streamlined process. I consider ChatGPT to be the best translator in the world, so that is why I am involving it in my workflow. But I am certainly open to another more streamlined workflow, provided the translations are on-point
