Best way to encode video for seamless scrubbing in source panel?

I'm jumping into Premiere from Avid MC, but running into issues with video scrubbing in the source panel. Lots of latency and lag when a new file is imported and scrubbed. If I import a DNxHD 145 (HD1080p) file generated by Avid MC into Premiere, it scrubs cleanly. What's the recommended workflow on PC for ingesting new clips in a way that will allow them to seek & scrub smoothly in source?

Thanks!

This was exactly what I was looking for - thank you! On Avid, the ingestion process creates DNxHD proxies and uses them by default - I think the part of the process I had missed in this instance was toggling the source window to view the proxy.

Thanks again!

In the Media Browser panel, if the Ingest box is checked, you'll find Premiere Pro behaving very similarly to Avid.
