Question

Bin and Clip Labeling

Perhaps I just do not know how to do this. I have labeled my bins a specific color, however when I drop and import new items they do not apply the same label. I realize that I can select them all and do the same, but when you are in the middle of edit and new materials present themselves often it's easy to just import and keep working. Then you have a messy project. Is there a setting you can have that will automatically label clips with a specific color that matches the bin on ingest?

My extension Automation Blocks  can be very helpful for setting label colors.

We have a ready to use tool to set label colors based on item type and one to set the label of used footage items - see

https://docs.mamoworld.com/automation-blocks/tools-pr/projectItemsTools#label-colors

It is also very easy to create a tool which updates the label of all clips in a particular bin. Here I just recorded a video for you showing how to create your own tool to always update the labels of project items of one particular bin in your project.

Attached to the post is the XML of the sample tool I create in the video. That way you don't have to recreate the block code from scratch. Just load my tool in your Automation Blocks and just update the bin name and color as you want.

If you have multiple bins which should have a particular color, you can also write a single script processing all of them: simply duplicate the entire blockcode several times and adjust each instance as needed.

Hey Ann,
I appreciate you getting back! I should have been more specific. The label I am referring to is the COLOR label.

Let's say I have all my 3rd Party material labeled TAN. So I have my bin with all my material from 3rd Party Sources. When these materials come in throughout the edit weeks, I want to be able to import them into that bin and they auto-label the clips as tan. I hope that makes sense.

I tried doing what you had suggested, which is something I didn't know so thank you, but does not help me in the instance.

Premiere does not support already labeled/colored bins/clips on import.
