Hello,

I am reporting a persistent issue with N-RAW (R3D NE) files coming from the Nikon Z R camera in Premiere Pro 25.6.3 (macOS).
The problem affects all my footage and is fully reproducible.

Issue description

When importing N-RAW (.NEV / R3D NE) clips recorded on the Nikon Z R:

  • The video appears correctly in the Project panel and timeline

  • The audio track is missing (no waveform, no audio channels detected)

  • The “Properties” panel also shows no audio metadata

  • The same files work normally in Premiere Pro Beta and in DaVinci Resolve, with audio correctly recognized

This suggests that the stable release of Premiere Pro does not yet fully support the updated N-RAW / R3D NE implementation used by the Nikon Z R.

Technical details

  • Camera: Nikon Z R

  • Codec: N-RAW (R3D NE), 4K and 8K tested

  • Premiere version: 25.6.3

  • OS: macOS (Apple Silicon)

  • Hardware: Mac (Apple M-series)

  • Storage media: CFexpress

  • Audio: Internal camera audio, 48 kHz

Steps to reproduce

  1. Record N-RAW on Nikon Z R

  2. Import into Premiere Pro 25.6.3

  3. Video loads correctly

  4. Audio channels do not appear (no waveform, no sound)

Expected behavior

Premiere Pro should import both video and audio tracks from N-RAW files produced by the Nikon Z R, as it does in the Beta version.

Hi @cécile_8745 what you're seeing is as expected. Premiere Pro 25.6 has added support for Nikon N-RAW.

However the support for the newer R3D NE versions like what you have is only in Premiere Pro (Beta). We're still working on finishing up full support for it, so it's not yet in the release.

Thank you for your reply. Premiere Pro accepts the N RAW file, but it doesn't recognize the audio associated with the .NEV file.
When will it be available on Premiere Pro? I'm working on a project for several months and I'm afraid to do everything on the beta version.
