Question

Can I create a Gradient with a Lumetri Color Effect?

I want to enhance the illusion of light falling across the room by boosing the highlights and having them fall off across the image in a sequence left to right. I was looking for a way to apply a gradient but I can only find color gradients, not one that would let me to this with the Basic Corrections under Lumetri. Is it possible to apply a Lumetri gradient, or a gradient to a Lumetri Effect?

Like for so many other uses of feathered masks, really. Move the mask off to the side, shaped say tall/narrow, and extend the feather so it washes across the rest of the image.

Many effects have masks available as part of the effect, as does the Lumetri effect. So you can go into the ECP, and for any one Lumetri effect, invoke the Mask option, and use the mask and feathering to do what you want.

Thank you. But doesn't the feathering goes around the whole of the mask? Is there a way to make the feathering go in on direction?

there might be an easier way, but you could use effect-> track matte set to luma matte from a linear ramp above it.

Thanks, I'll give that a try and see what happens.
