Can i still edit Adobe Premiere Pro files after backing them up on One Drive and dragging them back?

If I start a project using Adobe Premiere Pro on my Windows 11 desktop, and I back it up on OneDrive and delete the original project on the desktop, can I work with the Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 again if I drag it to the desktop, or another section on the local drive in Windows 11?

Thank you for your help.

Chris

You should be able to continue working on your Premiere project as long as you have the project file and the media you imported into it. If your media location changes, you may have to relink to their new location.

I'd agree with Neil that although in theory you could use One Drive from my experience, it can also have latency issues.

My method is to have  large local disks. Work in real time with  large project disk and large Media Disk  then at a convenient point in time save (Archive) Project to Cloud. I always back up Media locally as my 4K files are massive.

Rule is always have a backup of everything ........ we have all learnt the hard way !.

But I wouldn't be alble to continue working on them from OneDrive, but from moving them off one drive to a local drive, correct?

OneDrive, like most syncing/backup software, places meta in the file header to track changes to the file to know when to re-sync and such. That 'new' file header data can be very puzzling to an NLE that expects the file header to be identical to the data stored in it's internal database.

So technically one can work from a OneDrive linked folder, but it may not be wise.
