Question

Can someone please help with my text positions?

I was planning on messing around with trying to get back into editing again after a few years off. The other day when I was editing a video I didn't run into these problems, but now my text positions aren't lining up at all?

All of them are either wrong or different to each other, in the photo I've highlighted the red, which is the position and green, the anchor points. I've tried looking it up online but I couldn't find anything, tried new projects, restarting premiere, restarting the computer but I think I must have formatted it and I don't know what I've done. Can anyone help please?

With text, there are three different position controls, and they each behave differently:

  • Text layer: Controls the position of the individual text layer.
  • Vector Motion: Controls the position of all layers within the graphic.
  • Motion: Controls the position of the clip itself.

For a single line of text, adjust the Text layer position. Select the text layer in the layer stack, then view and adjust its position in the Properties panel under Align and Transform.

Only adjust Vector Motion if you want to move all layers in the graphic at the same time.

Best practice is to leave Motion unchanged, as using it for text positioning can lead to unexpected results and cropping.
