Can't cut or move clips in project panel

I'm working in 23.2.0 on an iMac with a 3.6 ghz 10 core intel core i9 processor, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16gb graphics card, 64 gigs memory..

I seem to have lost the ability to move clips in the project panel and I can't cut and paste them either. Nothing happens when I drag them and the 'cut' option when right clicking is grayed out. Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions.
