Can't fix the "stuttering"

Almost done with a short film and the "stuttering" and delayed responses in the program have gotten so bad that I can't work with it.  My driver is up to date.  I do live in a rural area and I am thinking maybe my internet speed is slightly too slow.  Its at 20.6 mbs download and 1.03 mbs upload.  Is that most likely the problem?  Can't think of what else it would be

If any part of the project relies on over-the-net connection, that set of 'net speeds would be excruciatingly slow.

Unfortunately. And if so, get things on local installed drives.

Hey Willis,

I'm sorry for the poor experience. Could you relocate the source files to internal storage and let us know if the preview improves? You can also try creating a new project with a few sample files moved to internal storage for testing (in case there isn't enough internal storage available). If you still see the issue, please share your current Premiere Pro version, source file properties, and system specifications.

Thanks,

Ishan

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:
https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-how-to-clear-your-media-cache-in-30-seconds-in-premiere-pro-2020/m-p/11017257/thread-id/260446?page=1

If that doesn't work, try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn't work, try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

That won't affect the current project I am working on will it?

Any media cache files that get deleted and are necessary will be automatically recreated.

What are the complete computer specs, including hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?

What type of media are you editing?
Have you tried proxies?

If NVIDIA graphics, make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).
