Can't "Reveal in Project" with Productions

A lot of our footage has separately recorded audio but no timecode sync, so we use a third party program called Syncalia to sync a lot of our footage and sound. I export an XML out of Premiere, then import the synced XML from Syncalia into Premiere.

 

The imported XML creates new source clips. In order to not have duplicate source clips, I tried cutting the source clips that were originally in the Production into the synced timeline, overwriting the duplicate source clips that were created when I imported the XML, then deleting the duplicate source clips. When I select one of the overwritten clips in the timeline and "Reveal in Project", it says the clip has been deleted and can't be found.

 

I also tried dragging the duplicate source clips to the project that has matching source clips and Consolidate Duplicates, but then, "Reveal in Project" doesn't work.

    Hi @KazuTa,

    Thanks for the note. It sounds like you are having unexpected behavior with a third party tool to sync clips and using Productions. Can you try syncing using a different workflow that does not include this tool? What is preventing you from syncing directly in Premiere Pro? Let us know. I hope we can help.

    I'm not sure if this is a different issue to what I experienced a while ago - If it's not revealing in project from a sequence to source clips in another project, try dragging the sequence into the project with the source clips and then back to the other project (with both projects open at the same time).     Also - I sync using external software, when I import from the software via XML it automatically imports new source clips - I just use these as my main source clips as I'm usually syncing as a first step in the project - can you not use the new clips as your main source clips rather than having to overwrite the old duplicates?

      I can't use the new source clips as the main source clips because they could be reference in one of hundreds of old sequences (the documentary has been on-going for over 5 years.

      If you’re unable to locate the source clip in a Production, try reassociating it:

      1. Go to Edit > Reassociate Source Clips.
      2. Select the appropriate project file to help Premiere Pro locate the missing source clip.

       

      If you’ve accidentally deleted the source clips, try recreating them:

      1. Go to Edit > Generate Source Clips for Media.
      2. Move the newly generated files to your Media project.

       

      If that doesn’t work, it may be easier in future to make the imported Syncalia clips your new source clips.
