Can't see clips moving in timeline in real time

I just updated to 25.6.6 and now when I drag clips around on the timeline, they don’t visually move until I let go.

Resetting preferences and/or clearing out temp files didn’t work. I’ve seen many threads where someone had the same issue but they’re all locked, and the solution was to delete nested clips or audio.

Nothing is nested in my project and never was. It’s a simple 5-min project with three files, the same project I’ve been using for something for a few years. I was just working with it earlier this week. Now it’s doing this after updating.

I was still on version 2024 because Premiere is the only app I use where every update either removes or breaks something in my workflow, and I end up having to revert. I’d rather not have to do that this time because for the first time, this update actually runs faster than the version I was on. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!

EDITED: I restarted my computer, then reset app preferences and this time, it seems to have worked. Now the playhead doesn’t move in real time. *sigh* I’ll go through settings again or just revert.

Since I can’t edit my post again, I’m adding here that I take back what I said about this version being faster. While it launches faster and feels faster in terms of navigating and UI, processing of footage has slowed to a crawl.

My 2024 version could generate audio peak files for 10 hours worth of footage in under about 2 minutes. This new version is taking 15 minutes to generate it for a single 2hr video.

It then takes even longer because previously, it would generate peaks for what I added to the timeline. Now it’s doing it for every file in the bin.

It’s also slowed down by this new media analysis thing that I wouldn’t have known was happening if I didn’t open the progress window. Something I never needed to do in the other version because nothing took long enough to need to track its progress.

I don’t want AI analyzing anything of mine, so I googled how to turn it off only to go to preferences and see that it was already disabled. Yet it ran anyway. I thought I’d just stick with this version but nah. I’m good.

    Hi there,

Do you still need help here, or are you up and running again? I believe my colleague told you how to disable media analysis in the other thread. Did that help at all? Let us know. Sorry for the hassle.

    Thanks,
