Can't seem to get Hardware acceleration in Premiere Pro CC 2017

I recently bought a brand new Samsung Notebook 9 Pro (15 inch, i7 7500U CPU @ 2.70 GHz, AMD RX 540 2GB DDR5, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Windows 10 64-bit) to use for on the go edits. Premiere runs smooth for the most part, but I really want to take advantage of the AMD GPU using OpenCL but the option is greyed out. It will only ungrey if I completely disable the onboard graphics card which results in poor screen quality and loss of multi-tasking (the onboard Intel 620 is powering the screen and most functions).

I have tried all of the following:

Changing the Switchable Settings within the AMD Radeon settings panel to High Performance for the Premiere Pro application

Reducing the Intel HD 620 onboard graphics 3D and Aliasing settings to power savings mode

Fully updating ALL drivers

I understand that my GPU is not on Adobe's very outdated "supported GPU list" that hasn't been updated in years. I also understand my AMD RX 540 is a brand new GPU with a decent bit of processing power to handle whatever I ask of it if Premiere would allow it to do so.

Any news on this? I have the same PC with the same card and am not having any hardware acceleration option coming up.

I've filed a bug report using the link that Kevin provided above. I'll let you know if I hear back, though it probably can't hurt if you file one too!

I've actually had to return the computer since this wasn't resolved in time for my project deadline, but it's a great machine and I'd probably buy it again if this was resolved.

I have a similar problem, although it seems that GPU acceleration is working but on the wrong graphic card.

I've upgraded my 2011 to a 2017 model (max specs, but Ram at 32GB), which apparently has besides the Radeon Pro 580 (8GB) an intel Graphic Chip.

It doesn't seem much faster tough than my previous imac. On the sensor List from iStat i see that the intel GPU gets hot, while the other GPU sensors even cool down during rendering my project (HD, AfterEffects Dynamic link, denoise 3 from redgiant, lumertri)

GPU usage at 2-5%

is it somehow possible to choose the Graphics card for Adobe Programs?

I don't think we're talking about the same computer. The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is a windows laptop with an RX 540, not a 580. In fact, there are no laptops equipped with an 8GB RX 580.

You'll find the Mercury Engine settings in Project Settings > General. If you don't see OpenCL as an option, try the instructions in the link that Ann posted above.

Thanks, Ann, but this persists even after a clean reinstall of the Radeon drivers. The RX 540 in this laptop meets Premiere's requirements for Mercury, and it's the same architecture as my desktop RX480 which Premiere has no problems with. I think this is something Adobe will have to address with an update.

Same issue here. I got the 15" size with the discrete GPU specifically for editing in Premiere. I hope there's some resolution to this that doesn't involve me returning the laptop, since it's otherwise pretty great.
