Can't Transcribe Source Clips

I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to work or not, but I'll import a clip and open it into the source monitor, then go over to the transcript window and click on "Show Source Monitor Transcript", but there is no prompt to transcribe the clip. Instead, I have to drag the clip into a sequence, change the transcript window to "Show Program Monitor Transcript" and THERE I can click on Transcribe. Is that how it's supposed to work or am I missing something?

daniel,

Something is not right. It would help to see a screenshot of the Transcript tab when you open an untranscribed clip there.

FYI, you can also right-click a clip in the Project Panel and pick "transcribe."

I'm noticing when I right click a video I can click transcribe, but not when I click on a merged clip, which is what I'm always using in my workflow. They're all merged clips. Could that be it?

Yes, I think that is it. I forgot about this issue. Here's a post regarding merged clips:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-bugs/trasnscribing-merged-clips/idc-p/13793865#M8466

If I right-click on a merged clip, there is a greyed out entry for "re-transcribe." A regular clip that is not already transcribed will show an active entry for "transcribe."

One workaround is to put the merged clip in a sequence, and the transcript tab will then show it as an untranscribed source clip.

If the merged clips have multiple audio tracks, that could raise other issues.
