Can two persons edit the same project on two different computers?

You can't both write to the same project but you can be in the same production. You can sync the production across the net. You must be aware that the .prlock files (that lock a project from being written to by more than one user) don't sync *instantly*. But it's all very workable - just done 3x docs shared between three edit stations.

It's kinda like an 'assembly line' of manufacturing when editing in a pro editing company ( post places that are pro places for movies and stuff ). Those places have a server in their own building feeding all the computer stations simultaneously. It's like sitting at the same computer with other people but since ten people can't sit in the same chair and stare at the same computer screen(s) the SERVER splits it up into different computer work station stuff.  Think about it like driving a car. Can two people ( or more ) drive the same car at the same time or at different times while sharing the same ROUTE objective ?  I think the answer is NO.

Unless you have the server and in house ( same building and different computer stations linked via server) and then you can have a factory to edit stuff.  It would be very expensive to do that and high end tech.

My advice, is this: If it's a one time deal like your friend shoots and edits and wants you to help... he can send you ( in the mail if you live far away from each other ) via flash drive or external drive all the original material ( shot stuff ) and his export for you to CONFORM TO.  That is usually xml or edl or whatever, depending on if you use same editing program etc... it's complicated and even using same editing programs is kinda funky ( not exact ).  You would have to spend a long time conforming for the edit and then deal with the color, FX, etc.

But that's not your case... so the option is that you live next to each other and can just hand deliver flash drives and stuff that has your new PROGRAM FILE of your edit ( you are both using the same exact program version and same type platforms ( pc, mac, etc. ) and same GRAPHICS cards or similar.  Then you can just go over after dinner and deliver new stuff and get new stuff ( swap media ). Otherwise you are basically dreaming.
