Question

Can you copy/paste between PP versions?

Hello,

I have timeline footage in a newer version of PP that I need to use in an older version of PP. Basically I want to copy and paste from my timeline in 2023 and paste in 2019. Is this possible?

Reason being is that my color is all off based on the new version post 2020.

Is there anyway to do this to keep the raw clip settings?

Thank you!

Probably not. There are other ways to move timelines/clips between versions and software, though, such as an XML.

Have you tried to figure out what is going on with your color in the new version? What is going on with the color? What kind of media are you using?

Hi Phil,

Yea according to the Adobe support here, the color tech has changed over
new versions and the project opens different color wise in new versions.

There must be a way!!

The way they handle color spaces has certainly changed/improved over time, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't achieve the same or similar results. But I don't know what kind of situation we're talking about here and how nuanced it is. If it's the fact that you are recording HDR content and now Premiere actually recognizes and treats it like HDR rather than automatically adjusting the color space to Rec709, then that's just something to quickly learn, rather than go back to an older version. And it also seems like going back to an old version would eventually be unteneable, since they fall out of support.
