Question

“Cannot copy because offline” but plays in the timeline?

Hello again,

I am still trying to “collect and copy” files onto a separate SSD for the colorist, but it keeps freezing up on me.

The first time it copied proxies instead of the full resolution media, so I detached them and reconnected the full media. But it still didn’t work, and I got an error message that all the files in a particular folder are still offline.

I have tried to relink these files several times by right clicking on “Reconnect Full Resolution Media” and following from there. They show up when I try to select them. But every time when I try to actually copy I get the same error messages about that same folder.

The weird thing is— ALL OF THESE CLIPS ARE SHOWING UP AND PLAYING IN THE TIMELINE. So, they would have to be linked, wouldn’t they??

What can be happening, how can I link the media properly?

Did you check your scratch disks and video preview files?

are you on an external drive or local?

try to move everything locally, reconnect full res media

    and collect again.

Did you try to clean media cache and reset the preferences?

No, I didn’t check my scratch disks and video preview files. How would I do that, and what would I be checking for?

I didn’t try to clean my media cache either… how do I do that? Am I resetting specific preferences, what should I change?

I’m working with many TBs worth of footage on an external drive, so I couldn’t possibly have room to put everything on my laptop locally. Most of the files apparently didn’t have trouble copying though, and they’re all on the same drive. So far it looks like just one folder is acting weird for some reason.

I cleared the media cache, and the same thing still happened again.
