Having an issue importing iTunes songs into a project. I know how to import songs, audio, into the project but for some reason it gives me "file type not supported" and thus, I cannot import the audio. The songs are the same audio type, but, in iTunes it's "Apple Music AAC audio file" for the audio I want but cannot import. The song(s) I have imported are "purchased AAC audio file" Other than that, all iTunes audio files are .m4a types. If stumped on this, if anyone can help out, It'd be greatly appreciated.

ITunes purchased M4P music and Apple Music AAC & ALAC audio files are encrypted files, that can only be played viaiTunes or authorized Apple devices. If you want to import any iTunes songs to your video editor, you'll need to use an iTunes music converter.  Sidify Apple Music to MP3 Converter let you convert Apple Music and iTunes songs you have in your library to ones without any loss in quality.

iTunes songs are protected. A method for you is to convert iTunes M4P music to MP3 with an iTunes audio converter like TunesKit Audio Converter. This one outputs with high quality. You can try it.

All songs from Apple Music exist in the format of AAC files. As they’re protected by a special kind of DRM, you are not able to import iTunes songs into Project ,but you can try Tunelf Apple Music Converter to convert Apple Music to the audio format compatible with project.

To import iTunes songs to other platform to using, here you could use the tool DRmare Audio Converter to help you. But please note that you can only use the songs for your own, not for commercial using.

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out. Songs that appear grayed out in iTunes need to be downloaded to your device before they can be used in Rush. Go to the Music app to download the song.

Songs from an Apple Music subscription cannot be used because they are protected by digital rights management (see details below). In order to use songs from Apple Music, they need to be purchased.

Details about digital rights management (DRM) can be found here: Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have additional questions.

Best,

Shivangi

Hi Anthony - As Jim mentioned, make sure that you have permission to use the music tracks if you are using the music for commercial use. Otherwise, if it is for a parody or educational use you could claim fair use.

In order to import the music into Premiere, you first need to convert the audio file into a .mp3 file before you import it into Premiere Pro. If you Google "Convert M4a to mp3" lots of online solutions will appear, such as this one.
