I'm currently working with "Captions" and trying to make a dash out of a hyphen. In the captions window it is displayed correctly but not in the program window. Where is my error or is it a bug? I would be very grateful for any support...

Can you post screenshots of what this looks like? Do you mean you want a long dash and two hypens show a gap in between? If so, you should use a proper em-dash or en-dash. On Windows an em-dash can be created by hitting "Alt+0151." There are lots of other "alt codes" you can search, and doing this on a Mac is even easier—you can probably just hold the hypen key on the keyboard to see all options.

Thank you very much for your help. I have found the error. It is because of the font.

I have worked with “Lucida Grande”. This font makes no visible difference between a dash and a hyphen.

After choosing a different font, the problem disappeared.
