Question

Captions

Hi everyone, I wanted to gauge community interest and pitch a feature request regarding captioning and text animations.  While automated transcription is becoming standard across NLEs, the workflow for creating high-engagement, dynamic social content (e.g., word-by-word active highlighting, pop-in text, kinetic typography) still requires significant manual setup or third-party tools/plugins. Native AI Word-Level Captions: Automated speech-to-text that generates individual, timed word clips or word-highlighting tracks natively on the timeline rather than static multi-line subtitle blocks.  Preset Kinetic & Animated Titles: Drag-and-drop animated caption styles (e.g., pop, slide, stroke highlight, karaoke-style glow) that can be applied globally to an entire caption track while remaining fully customizable in terms of font, tracking, and styling.  Non-Destructive Native Workflow: Having these rendered as fully editable, non-baked native title/caption nodes so timing and typos can be adjusted on the fly without re-exporting.  Features like this would eliminate the need to round-trip through external tools or heavy Fusion setups just for dynamic text. Is this something others in the community would find valuable for their editing workflow?

Is there any way to do fast animated captions in premiere without switch to AE or other Plugins?? I can't believe this isn't possible!

This link is to a review I did in 2024 of the many requests for this feature. The feature request that had the most was 7; that feature request today has 380 upvotes!

This post in a different thread included staff acknowledgment of the interest in animated captions - the side note at the end.

This is a tutorial I did that illustrates a simple animation workflow using the new-ish single word captions. But this is not the robust, flexible option you, and many others, want.

Note that you posted this in “Questions,” and not in “Feature request.” Hopefully a staff member will move it.

i’ll look for the most popular version of this feature request when I get home, so it can also be upvoted. That one includes Adobe staff indicating that they recognize the importance of this feature.

Caption creation now includes an easy way to create single-word captions, and with the “upgrade caption to graphic” feature it makes animating captions easier.

But you are correct, so far, Premier does not have this feature included in the way many users want.
