Captions Workflow Suggestions!

There are some basic functionality missing from caption workflow

1) Need to be able to highlight selection within individual captions and change styles, i.e. support multiple styles within the same caption bar; for example have a book title italicised but not the whole line

2) In the workspace the caption tracks cannot be pulled down towards the video tracks

3) Need to be able to toggle visibility on multiple caption tracks simultaneously and export as one

Thanks for updating these bugs/basic functionality for captions!

Sorry for not responding to this sooner.

1 - You can do this, but only editing the caption in the Program Monitor, not in the Text Panel. See my post here, and other discussion there. I'm not sure if any of this has changed since then: you can make "per word" edits in the Program Monitor/EGP, but not in the Text Panel. You can apply only one Caption Track Sstyle to a caption track - you can then edit captions per word, but if you reapply the style or another one, it will be overwritten.

2 - Correct. Greater flexibility of the caption track UI would be nice. I do not see a feature request for this submitted so far.

3 - Yes, this is a big issue raised by many users. Upvote this feature request:

https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/42970134-multiple-caption-tracks-visible-for-accessibility

Workaround for #3, see "Show Multiple Caption Tracks" in this post:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/faq-workaround-nesting-to-apply-effect-controls-to-caption-track/td-p/11935335

There is also a discussion in that thread regarding thrid party tools to covnert captions to regular EGP text to manipulate.

Thanks for your replies.

A few more functionality things on the captions; as a professional captioner/subtitler these upgrades would make PP worth the cost, otherwise it's a waste of time.

4) Either allow transition effects on caption workflow OR create easy way to switch a caption into a text layer and vice versa.

5) Need compatibility with caption files that preserve formatting such as SSA files, to avoid having to duplicate work on import into Premiere Pro. This basic upgrade will make a WORLD of difference.
