I have a Sony DSR-25 and Im trying to capture mini DV footage into Adobe Premiere Pro - when I go to "capture" I get "Capture Device Offline". I can play/control the tape via Premiere but it does not show the footage as it plays, nor allow me to record it, etc... What do I need to do?

Im beyond pissed! I have new Premiere and 2023. I was capturing just fine with it. Now it stopped and  I Hundreds of Tapes. Only reason I bought Premiere. Now I want my money back. I ll buy something else. It safer to have your video on Tape as back up. Digital does vanish or gets corrupted. Always hard copy is best. Ive seen so many complaints about this to adobe now. Not sure why if something working why break it.

wait, if you were successfully capturing using your hardware, restore the version of Premiere that was working for you.    One of the great things about Premiere is you can have multiple versions installed.

Ok, as long as they dont change it on me and/or delete my past Premiere Pro. I noticed that they have done that. Not understanding why they removed it in the first place. If it already built and working. Why remove it at all?  Seems like a very dumb move. As I ve seen all across the Internet people are pissed about it. They have switched Editing software because of it. Heck, Im thinking about it.

I use these programs to capture via Firewire:

WinDV   WinDV

HDVSplit   HDVSplit 0.77 beta

Fair enough, but Adobe Premiere should also work for this... the player Im using (Sony DSR-25) is in fact listed in the capture device list, but I just can't get it online for some reason...

Mac OS no longer supports capturing DV footage via Firewire !... that was the issue... thankfully I saved my old 2009 Macbook which has an old OS and it is working...so ridiculous
