Capture Mini DV on Imac 27"

Hi! 

 

I'm wanting to capture Mini DV with my Imac 27".  I'm currently using Premiere Pro 2022.  I'm plugging the player in via the Thunderbolt port.  I have deck control but no picture.  I am able to capture via Imovie and Avid without issue.  Appreiciate any insights

Is Premiere Pro set to DV instead of HDV?

 

While it's obviously more convenient to do the capturing in a Premiere Pro, if iMovie is working as expected I would go ahead and capture the tapes there and import the resutling files into Premiere Pro.

Thanks Warren! I can do that for part of my project but the bulk of the editing was already done on an Avid in lowres.  I want to online the footage and finish the project in Premiere with an EDL.  Which means I need Premiere to be able to digitize. I don't think Imovie can handle an EDL.

Okay, yeah, you ideally want something with a Log and Capture option. 

Not sure if it applies here, but I remember my Sony DSR-11 having a menu option for DV out that had to be enabled.  If that was disabled, then nothing would come across.  

 

Don't suppose you have a Mac that can run macOS 10.9 to 10.12 and a Final Cut Pro 3 installer around?
