CC 2018 - Playback delay / slow performance with CUDA on?

I'm having playback / performance issues with the new Premiere (2018) and CUDA playback. If I enable the Mercury Playback Engine with CUDA there is a very noticeable delay between when I hit play and when the actual timeline starts playing. This delay happens in the timeline, program & source monitor. Also the general performance of the program is quite poor with CUDA enabled. Slowness, lag, & crashes throughout the program.

LUCKILY, if you switch to "software only" mercury playback you get smooth Premiere performance and instant playback. Has anyone else seen this? Seems like an enormous bug.

I'm on 10.11.6 El Capitan & editing with fairly light footage (1080 / 23.98 / ProRes LT).

Same issue on Windows 10. I've been hunting through changing every setting imaginable. Disabling CUDA and using Software Only under Project Settings removes the delay.

I'm having the exact same problem, but even if I switch to "Software only".  It seems like a lot of people are having this problem with CC 18, and I run Premiere off on two different computers.  Adobe has seemed more than a bit quiet on the issue.

Have you done a manual check of your driver by going to Nvidia's website and checking the number of the latest driver available for that card on your OS compared to the one used by your OS?
