Changing Default setting of importing dual channel mono as it is and not single channel stereo

dual channel mono audio is getting imported as single channel stereo by default.

Partial solution : When I open a project, right click on the clip -> modify -> audio channels -> change channel format to mono -> add necessary number of channels and select a different channel for every audio clip and assign them -> then reimport the file... it works !!

But I need to save this setting as all the files i import under different projects have dual channel mono audio and I don't want to do this step every time I create a new project.

I did it once in the last version on my old laptop and it was done for all my future projects.

But I recently upgraded to a mac and this setting isn't getting saved.

Can anyone tell me how to solve this ?

To be clear: you go into the Preferences, set the Timeline preferences for Default Audio Tracks, and set both Stereo and Mono options to default to mono, click the ok to save and exit the dialog.

Now when adding a clip to a timeline after setting that default, it doesn't follow the instructions of the default setting changes you made ... ?

Can you please share your system info? Like OS and version, CPU, RAM, GPU vRAM, Thanks. Also a screen grab of your issue will be helpful.

Basically I need to do this ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmyMEBHM3s8

But the settings are not getting saved as default... I am being asked to do this over and over again for every clip.

What is the current option set in the Preferences for importing audio?

By default it shows up as single channel stereo. I need it to be set as dual channel mono, so that the L and R audio channels appear as separate on the timeline. I have saved it as a custom preset but I have to change it to that for every clip I want to import. I need it to be set as default.

Which app and version are you using please? Adobe have several apps that manage an audio channel, each with its own forum.
