hey

I have recently built my self a new Computer specifically for video editing, I thought it would do the trick however 4K editing is still a bit choppy especially scrubbing even when I reduce the playback quality to 1\4.

The specs of my pc are as follows

CPU — core i7 8700k overclocked to 4.7 ghz

GPU — nvidea GTX 1060 6 GB

RAM — 16 GB ddr 4 coursair vengance pro rgb

SSD — 500 GB Samsung 950 pro

I use a nzxt water cooler to keep everything chilly and I also have a 3tb hard drive, however I copy all my footage over to the ssd when I am editing.

would love some help, maybe I’m expecting to much and this is normal with my specs

thnaks in advanced

I recommend using Cineform proxies.  The performance improvement is substantial, especially once you start adding effects.

don't know what your source material is, but if it's compressed like h264 it can be a strain on cpu to do that stuff. Some people use proxies to edit with more friendly codec etc.
