Choppy video in Premiere Pro, macOS

Hi Guys,

I'm having issies with choppy video in Premiere Pro (and Lightroom). When dropping clips onto the timeline, and then trying to view the video on the timeline, it is choppy in places and drags in others. I have a Mac Pro and have talked with Apple. They say it is an issue with Adobe (go figure). Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this? When I render a project, it looks fine, and I can watch other video and that looks fine. This only happens when I am in Premiere. Thanks.

Mac Pro Late 2013, 3.5GHz 6 core intel xeon E5. Premiere Pro V 14.0.0

Hello, I added my mac specs to my original post. For this particular video, I was flying a Phantom 4 Pro. Frame rate was 60fps, MP4/MOV/h264. However, it doesn't seem to matter what camera/codec I am using, the choppiness is always an issue. As the issue disappears after rendering, I shot the raw video on Premiere, using my iphone. I'm sure you're snickering right now, but as long as you can see the issue, I'm OK with that. Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out. As experts mentioned, we would need more information about the media (frame rate, frame size, format/codec) and your system specifications (RAM & GPU) so that we can troubleshoot the performance issue properly. Also, could you share screenshots or a screen recording so that we can understand the issue better?

Ann's dead on when she says we need more info but in the meantime, have you tried reducing the playback resolution in the program monitor or using a proxy workflow? I've attached to screen shot to show you where you change the playback resolution.
