Clip and sequence time errors for large QT file from disk or DV capture
I am trying to edit and convert a number of older files from Hi8 media previously captured in Premiere Elements as QT files on a Mac. The clip shows up with a total time that is close to but not exactly 1/2 the time of the media. The same issue shows up in a sequence containing the clip. When I play back, a number of frames seem to be skipped, as the scenes are intermittently jumpy. Also, the audio seems to capture okay, but is not synced with the video, so it seems like the audio is playing back at "regular" speed while the video is doubled up due to dropped frames.
This is running PremierePro CC 13.0.1 build 13, on an iMac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017, 3 GHz Intel Core i5 running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6.
I have Quicktime Player 10.4 installed.
This seems to only happen with larger files - over 40 minutes or 10GB. I have not been able to reproduce it with a smaller file.
I thought the issue might have been with the older files, but I was able to capture a new 2 hour file directly into PremiereProCC and found the same issue. I am able to open the captured files (both the old ones and the one I just captured) in Premiere Elements and QuickTime Player with no problems.
I checked using MediaInfo, and confirmed that these are Constant Frame Rate files, so this is not due to the issue with limited support for Variable Frame Rate.
I was able to run one of the files through HandBrake and edit the resulting file, but I'd prefer to work with the source files as much as possible and just convert the files once as part of exporting.
Thanks,
