Question

Clip has audio in media player but no audio in Premiere Pro

Hey y'all I have a clip that has audio when I play it in my windows media player but when I import it into premiere it has no audio. I've tried deleting the clip and reimporting it, redragging it to the timeline, and restarting premiere. I know audio is working for premiere because clips from the same shoot have audio and I can hear other audio tracks in the project. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appriciated.

* SOLUTION * I put a drop shadow effect on the clip and that fixed it?

If this happens again in the future you might want to consider deleting your media cache files and see if that fixes it.

what format is the file?  I'm on a mac so can't talk with any experience with your specific problem...  Does Windows Media Player have a "get info" function or something like that so you can see what the codec, sampling rate, etc are?  You might try dropping the file into Adobe Media Encoder and converting it to another format.  I'd suggest that you try exporting just the audio as an aiff or wav file 48k 16 bit...
