clips glitching pre and post import

I am trying to make a small edit of a tv show but when I change the scale of a clip, the clip is completely glitched and destroys pretty much every frame. I tried clearing my media cache and reopening the project, even deleteing all the folder and re-importing the clip that was messed up, but now when I imported it, the clip is already glitchy and not usable. I have updated the application and my mac book to try and fix it but the problem still occurs. I am pretty basic in my understanding of troubleshooting this so this has become my last resort after trying to follow a handul of forum posts and youtube videos. any and all help is welcomed and very much appriated.
