Closed Captions - Language Setting for 608/708 Streams?
I work at a local broadcast station and we are migrating over to Premiere to do our captioning...it's working great so far but I am wondering if there is a way to specify the default language for captions in Premiere? We are exporting as an .mxf and the metadata option is only to export as a sidecar file (which we are not doing), so it doesn't give us an option to change the metadata when 'none' is selected in the export option. Perhaps this is not an export issue with Premiere but with the original .scc and .mcc files we are using? (we use Rev for our captioning service). I looked at the metadata panel for each of those files and only found a blank entry (& no pull down menu) for country under the 'Photoshop' category (so not sure if that would be the correct metadata value to modify).
When we put the captioned file through Telestream, the language comes back as Afrikaans (South Africa) (af-ZA)...which appears to be the unset, default language.

In the analyzer, it also shows up as the same language (unset).

It's interesting to see that the SMPTE 436M captions show up in the Telestream as 708, and show up in the analyzer as 608 and 708. As we now know, they are neither, they are 436M. It lies. (Actually it just confuses people, as it did us for the longest time.)
We also ran the file through MediaInfo & FFProbe and including that info below for reference. MediaInfo returns a language for Text#2 which is the 708 stream, so wondering if this is an issue with the 608 stream?

Also, there's a Reddid thread with some good info that we found helpful for CC in Premiere FYI

For Premiere, we are using 2017.0.1
