CLOSED CAPTIONS NOT EXPORTING IN MEDIA ENCODER WHEN OPENING A SENT PROJECT FILE WITH LATEST UPDATE

Whenever my co-editor sends me a project file that she's been working on for me to open and edit on myself, for some reason ever since we both updated Premiere, when I export from her project file in Media Encoder, the closed captions won't export in the video, even when I select "burn captions," etc.  It only works if I export through Premiere, but then that slows down my workflow a lot.  Help!

To help resolve this issue, here are a few suggestions to check or try:

  • Ensure Matching Fonts
Verify that both systems are using the exact same font file for captions. An easy way to standardize this is by using fonts from Adobe Fonts.
  • Adjust Media Encoder Settings
In Adobe Media Encoder, try unchecking the option Import Sequences Natively under the settings.
  • Convert Captions to Graphics
You can convert your captions to graphics by navigating to Graphics and Titles > Upgrade Caption to Graphic. This replaces the captions with graphic clips, so it’s recommended to back up your sequence before proceeding.
  • Nest the Sequence
Nest your sequence in a new one. This can sometimes force Premiere Pro to burn in the subtitles, even if the burn-in option isn’t explicitly enabled.
  • Export and Re-import Captions
From your co-editor’s sequence, go to File > Export Captions to export the captions as a file. Then, re-import the captions into your project and add them to the timeline.
  • Restart Adobe Media Encoder
Before exporting, try quitting and re-opening Adobe Media Encoder. This can resolve temporary glitches that might be interfering with the export process.

If the problem persists, could you share your caption and export settings, as well as your computer specifications? This information will help in identifying the issue more accurately.
