Color Matte not Working

I'm trying to insert a white background over a green screen....I've created a white color matte and placed in on V1, right above V2 where my video sequence is located.  When I play the video I still only see a green screen with my subject.  If I place my color matte at the beginning of the sequence and drag my video further down the time line I can see the white background...but as soon as it approaches my green screen video on the time line I lose the white color matte....Can anyone help??

    I assume you keyed the green screen first?

    Can you post a screen shot of your sequence?

    Have you applied an effect to key out the green?

    I didn't apply the effect to key out the green... that was the

    problem....thanks for your help.
